There are times especially at night when I am nursing/rocking her to sleep that I KNOW that I am the luckiest (or "yuckiest" as my youngest sister used to say) and most blessed mother and wife alive. I have a husband who truly loves and cares for me--and shows it in many little (and big) ways. I have been blessed with the sweetest little daughter on earth, and when I feel her breath on me while I rock her to sleep I am overwhelmed with gratitude and love for this child.
Today has been bittersweet for me- simply because I over-think everything haha- but my youngest sister Morgan turned 18. I was looking at her holding Bridgette today thinking- "it seems like yesterday that I was leaving for college and Morgan was 8 years old crying for me not to go", and here Morgan is leaving in a couple of months. I am very excited for her, a little sad for my mother, and very aware that one day I will be packing Bridgette up to continue her life's journey. Made my stomach hurt a little.
Oh well- Bridgette is 6 months old! We have a doc appt next week to see all of her stats, but in the meantime, here's an update on her abilities!
*Sitting up without support very well
*Eating a few foods (mostly rice cereal, oatmeal, bananas, and peas) and loving it!
*Drinks water from a sippee cup
*Holds her own bottle with no problem
*Says "mamamamamama" when she is hungry and wants me (PRECIOUS)
*Squeals with delight, then continues to squeal when she realizes it gets her attention
*Smiles upon command now--makes GREAT pics!
*Has less stranger anxiety- whew
*Reaches for things she wants and grasps with one hand, then can transfer to the other
*Has started sucking her thumb and there is NOTHING I can do about it
*Loves her toes
*Rolls over both ways (although back to front is more difficult for her)
*Stands some unsupported while she holds onto something else
*Is the love of our lives :)
