A Weekend of Firsts

Friday: FIRST VACCINATIONS :(
Poor little Bridgette had her 2 month check up and wowed Dr. Black! He said she was growing really well, was perfect upon physical exam, and weighed 11 lbs and 6 ounces!! She is up 3 lbs from birth and is in the 75% of babies her age. BIG GIRL :)
She has had a problem with thrush and diaper rash that made her a little fussy while she eats, but we are treating her and it is getting much better. She also has periodic gas pains that bother her, and we are still working on fixing that!
She tolerated her vaccines very well, and along with Tylenol, was just mildly fussy for the rest of the weekend.
Saturday: We had Aunt Mal-Mal with us and enjoyed a relaxing Saturday.
Sunday: Her FIRST church service.....
We dressed Bridgette in the lovely dress that Aunt Malerie bought her and she looked beautiful. Let's just say, that because she eats frequently during the day, it is difficult to get to Newport and time her feedings. So, before we left I fed her. She made it to Newport, and I gave her a "snack" in the car before we went into church for Dad's Christmas cantata. As she was eating, I noticed that she was straining and having a bowel movement. I calmly told Trav that I would change her inside in the restroom and we would enter the service a tad late, thus avoiding people touching Bri too much :) haha
I went into the restroom with our little angel, and to my dismay, found that she had pooped out of her diaper, up her back, through her onesie, and onto the lining of her dress. It was everywhere. Church had started, Trav was outside the door. I yelled for him to come into the ladies room (which he resisted!!) and had him cut her onesie off to avoid getting poop all over her. Next, I took out my wet wipes and washed her off, took the dress to the sink and washed it and used my tide pen. As I redressed her, Trav stepped outside only to run into the choir director (who is a family friend). Being polite, Trav asked how she was doing and mentioned that we had brought Bridgette to her first church service. She looked mortified and said "You aren't bringing her in are you?" He nodded and she said, "PLEASE TAKE HER OUT IF SHE STARTS TO CRY"!!! That's right- did you know you cannot have a child in church if she cries....????? I was furious and insulted, esp after what we went through to get there. Aren't we mature adults who do not require direction? WHEW. BTW- she did NOT cry during the service.
After church and lunch, we went to visit Grandpa Marty at the drugstore, then onto the Knoxville Marriott for family pictures with Buda/Bailey/Sparks/Fawvers :) It was a show! Megan Parker took our photos! I will post some when we get them! Bridgette did so well!
So, in all, we had a very event-filled weekend with so many firsts for little Bridgette. She handled them better than Mommy did hahaha :)

Having fun

We have been playing and hanging out. Bri loves mirrors--she laughs and stares at the lights and herself. It's so cute! She has been eating several times during the day and sleeping 5-6 hr stretches at night-- she is the best baby!! After every meal we can expect 2-3 spit-ups, we do a LOT of laundry!! But shes gaining weight well so no worries.
We are looking forward to Christmas! I started piano lessons back this week. I love playing christmas music!!

Bridgette is going to be famous!!!!

This little angel is going to be featured on the cover of KnoxMoms Magazine!! We aren't sure what issue yet, but we will let you know! The lady that photographed her newborn pics submitted her photo and the editors wanted Bridgette!! We had no idea! So, we will teach her to sign your copy of the magazine as you get yours! :)
In unrelated news: Travis and I went to see A Christmas Carol in IMAX 3D today on a date (Thanks Grammy Kay) and it was absolutely frightening!! It was brilliantly done, but too scary for kids for sure! It was also unbelievably loud in the theater--but maybe that is me getting old! haha
Here is a shot of our "famous" little girl :)

Action shots

Bri didn't sleep well last night, so I have tried to entertain her a lot today and keep her awake. Her Marley Grandparents left this AM (they were just here for 3 days) and we had a lot of fun with them! They love to come and visit and see how much she has grown! Here are some shots from our playtime with Bumbo :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Hello all! Bridgette enjoyed her first Thanksgiving holiday by sleeping most of the day and all of the night! haha. She is also a great eater-- she has stepped it up (she is just like her Daddy). Aunt Malerie bought her a sweet Thanksgiving outfit that says "Little Turkey". After a wonderful night before Thanksgiving meal at Grammy Kays, we had the Bailey/Lyles family up for lunch at our home. Bridgette was a perfect angel for both get togethers :)
After lunch and some football, Daddy, Bri, and I laid on the couch and cuddled in front of a fire and the Christmas tree. It was magical.
Aunt Mal came in this AM and held Bri, then Daddy stayed with Bri and Mal and I went to Morgan's game. They won by a long shot. I missed her so much haha :)
Her snotty nose is getting somewhat better- at least it is getting easier to clean her nose out.

Bridgette has a cold :(

Well, Bri has her first cold. She has been sneezing and sounding congested for a day or two, but last night, she was so congested that I had to suction and irrigate her nose several times. She slept ok, but today is fussy and upset that she has so much snot in her head. :( Makes mommy sad. I used to love suctioning noses at the hospital, because it felt like I was helping and doing something productive. Now, however, I hate to suction my own baby, because it makes her cry!! We fired up the humidifier and that seems to help.
Yesterday we took our first trip to Newport to visit Grammy Kay, because I wanted to see Morgan play basketball. We won the game, and Bridgette did very well with her Grandmother. We will have to make a visit to the Bailey's next time!
Thanksgiving is coming up and we go back to Newport Wed night, then having the Bailey's up on Thurs. I am so excited and I really hope Bri is better by then!!
More pics soon!

hello family!

1 month doctor visit

So Daddy, Bridgette, and I went for her 1 month check-up this AM. She is doing so well. Dr. Black gave her rave reviews: She's 9 lbs, 8 ozs and 21.5 inches! She is in the 75% on the growth chart. :) He also commented on how terrific her head looks after the trauma it endured during labor.
She has had a couple of fussy and gassy nights this last week that has left Daddy and me sleepless :) She has also been spitting up after every feeding, but is gaining weight very well, so no problems :) Last night however, she slept very well, thankfully. Travis goes on night shift tonight and Grammy Kay is coming to help me for the evening.
As many of you know, I have been suffering from "Mommy Neck" haha, so today I am going to have a neck and shoulder massage. I am so excited!!

Visits

1 month old!!

OUr precious little girl is one month old today! I cannot believe it!! She has been such a pleasure, and is growing so fast! The Marley Grandparents were in this week to see little Bri and left Thursday morning. It was wonderful to have them here. We got some good quality sleep and they got to spend these precious moments with Bridgette. I feel so blessed to have such wonderful family!!
Grammy Kay visits regularly and loves this little baby dearly. :) She plays the piano and I just LOVE IT!
Bri has had a couple more visitors this week! Lucy Hooper came to chat and play with her (and bring Mommy some chocolate cake--thanks Lucy!)
Katy and Declan came to snuggle yesterday--and brought lunch and some YUMMY homemade marinara!! Declan and Bridgette were so precious together- check out the pics!!
Kira came to visit this morning and brought me a pumpkin spiced latte---LOVE THOSE!! Bridgette was actually awake during most of her visit.
Bri is sleeping well at night- giving me 3-4 hour stretches between feedings. I LOVE IT. :) She is so sweet. We see the doctor next week and see how much weight she has gained. She has surely grown inches too!! She is in between her newborn and 0-3 month clothes, so it is difficult to dress her now! hehe. I cannot wait to dress her in all the wonderful clothes we have from gifts!!
I am getting around VERY well now. Just minimal pain and some swelling left- but I am feeling much better! :) I have to take another pic soon! I am in my old jeans-- but unfortunately they hit right above my incision where I am swelling and having pain, so I am still wearing stretchy clothes mostly haha! Gives me hope though! Can't wait to get back to the gym--I really miss it!!
