Happy Halloween!! She's two weeks old!

Bridgette had a LONG night last night! She couldn't figure out if she was hungry or sleepy! So, Travis and I took turns staying up but we finally all went to sleep, and she has adjusted well today!
Aunt Malerie came to visit today!! She and Robert drove up from FL late last night, and she held Bri all day long. :) Wes came this AM, and Grammy Kay also stopped in briefly.
We didn't dress her up, but she had on a very scary outfit hehe.
I began walking very slowly yesterday, and today I walked for 15 mins on the treadmill and did some very light hand weights. Had no problem, and I feel very good afterward. I will post a new pic of me today.

Babys first tub bath

Daddy and I gave her first tub bath today! She did not love it! haha. We tried to video tape it, because I needed help holding her head up :) But we did get some pretty good pictures. She smells so good from her organic baby shampoo.
She is such a good baby. She sleeps so well, and is a very good nurser. She is spitting up now after nursing some, but is holding down her milk well and gaining weight so we will not worry about it :). The nurse in me knows its normal, but the mom in me gets worried.
Aunt Malerie is on the way from FL to see Ms. Bridgie! Can't wait to see her!!

Back to the doctor--GOOD NEWS!

Bridgette saw Dr. Black again today for a weight recheck and she is up to 7 lbs, 15 ozs!! Near her birth weight, so we are thrilled. Her jaundice has resolved and she is gaining weight appropriately. Everything in the Fawver home is going so well now! Bridgette is being a perfect angel. Grammy Kay is visiting now and playing with Bri.
We tried a new arrangement last night. Travis gave the midnight/1am feeding to give me a break. Unfortunately, I had to pump anyway! Couldn't last that long! haha But it was wonderful to get a few consecutive hours of sleep.

Photo Shoot

We went today for the newborn photo shoot at Megan Parker Photography. She was a perfect angel...for the most part! haha
She peed on daddy twice! :) She likes to challenge him! But most of the shoot she was perfectly still and beautiful. If you want to watch for the pictures, the website is: www.meganparkerphoto.com
I cannot wait to see them all!!
My friend Kim Carpenter is coming today to visit Bridgette, and Tara Dempster came last night to view our little one. She is very popular, although we are restricting the amount of visitors now, since the flu is getting pretty bad again. Bri and I will resurface in about 6 months hahaha.
Daddy has been busy running errands, cleaning, and finishing projects around the house. He takes such good care of us! :) He loves his little daughter so much. It is so heartwarming to see him with her.
My recovery is going very well. I hope to be able to drive soon. I will have my check up on Monday. Bridgette sees the doctor again for a weight check tomorrow!!

Postpartum Pic and Time with Grammy and Aunt Mo-Mo

Aunt Mo-Mo loves her niece!

Sweet baby girl time!

Saturday I had a 1 week picture postpartum to motivate myself.
As of today I have lost 26 pounds since delivery!! YEAH breastfeeding!!! I do have diastasis, so as soon as I get the green light from Dr. Roberts, I have got to start working my transverse muscle. I am already wearing an abdominal splint during the day and working my transverse while seated. I'll take a picture every week to track my progress.

Visit from the Bailey/Lyles Grandparents

Well, Mom left this AM. She has been indispensable. Weston came to pick me up this AM so I could get out of the house for about an hr. I wanted to go to the mall and look around. Unfortunately, I think I pushed it too far. I got too winded and in a little bit of pain, so I am gonna stick to the house for at least a few more days!
In the afternoon, Dad, Diane, and Gommy came for a visit. It was Gommy's first glance at Bridgette. We passed her around and watched the UT/Bama Game. Bridgette must be having a growth spurt, because she is eating every 1.5-2 hours. She sleeps well in between though. :) Daddy had a hard time satisfying her when I was gone in the AM. She wanted to breastfeed!!
Everyone is asking how the dogs are adjusting--they are doing quite well. They seem to understand that they are not the center of attention, but are being protective of her. They follow us around. I cannot hold them at all due to my incision, but our guests and Daddy (of course) are giving them some love.
We hear that the Marley Grandparents are missing our little angel very badly. Hopefully they will make it back into town soon.
Dinner is Chophouse compliments of Dad and Diane. They also brought homemade mint chocolate brownies!! YUMMY!!
Pics to follow!!

10/23/09

Bri's bilirubin has decreased significantly and she is feeding very well!!
We are so thankful. The Great- Grandmother and Granddaddy Sparks are visiting today. They love seeing the baby open her eyes and take in her surroundings. They also brought food and CHOCOLATE CAKE!!! :)
Lucy Hooper came to visit us today too. She had never seen the house, and so after a quick tour, she fell into the rocker and fell in love with Bridgette too!
Bridgette is nursing very well, and seems to really be adjusting so naturally. She sleeps about 3 hours in between feedings.
Travis is so wonderful with her. He can calm her down immediately. She just stares when he is with her and appears to soak in everything he tells her :) We may have a daddy's girl on our hands.
Well, it's naptime for everyone in the Fawver household (including Grammy Kay)! Grammy went to the grocery store for me today, and that was a relief. We are well stocked again with the essentials. I will post pics soon. Oh and I have the first printed pics of her now! So amazing to see her little face!
Next week we have professional pics taken of her. I cannot wait!

5 days old!

Bridgette's jaundice appears to be resolving well today. We see the doctor tomorrow for a confirmation of this. She has been eating and giving wet/dirty diapers more regularly. Papaw Billy, Uncle Westo, and Aunt Mo-Mo have been by today to visit. Travis got his hair cut and feels much better now :) I have been in recovery mode and doing very well. Bri's injuries are fading fast. We are just too happy here. Trav's parents made it back to Kansas but we are missing them. Mom has been here since and I'm not sure what I'd do without her! I am so in love with this baby!

Labor and Delivery

Bridgette Jane Fawver was born via C-section on Saturday, Oct 17, 09 at 303AM. Weighed in at 8lbs, 4 ozs and was 20 inches long.
Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and support. I will be brief about her delivery, but you will not believe what all went wrong. The best news is that everyone is healthy and happy now!
Wed night I took my H1N1 vaccine IM (no preservatives). Early Thurs AM I woke up with rigors and a fever 101. Took Tylenol and attempted to sleep. Then, contractions began. I contracted about every 5-10 minutes for several hours (semi-painful) so I called my OB who was out of town (of course haha). Her partner told me to keep an eye on things, but that it was probably just a transient rxn to the vaccine.
So, I stayed home until about 2pm and had a UA that showed some blood and leuks. I called Travis, who was at work at Jeff ER, and he had me come down to the ER. He drew blood, rechecked UA/micro/C&S, bolused me, etc. I was only dilated 2cm so the contractions were not productive. I got the full w/u! haha. No relief. I was very weak, and went home and slept all night long.
The next AM, I still had the fever and so we went straight to the OB. She admitted me with intention on finding out what was causing the fever, and possibly inducing me. I was also group B strep + so she wanted to be extra cautious. I got to the hospital, she induced labor and everything went downhill from there. Basically, I had labored 2 days with a fever , shaking violently, and was so weak. My uterus quit responding to pitocin and the baby didn't tolerate labor very well. I was in the hospital for 10 hours in labor when I was fully dilated. I pushed for 2 hours with no results. She tried vacuum extraction and even forceps. At that point, Bridgette was getting very intolerant of labor. I was rushed to emergency C-section around 230AM. BTW- my epidural did not take on the R leg. So, I was sedated for the C-section. The NICU team was called in.
Her Apgars were 4 and 8. Her BS was too low at 29. I took 1.5 hours to wake up from sedation. Travis and our family were in shambles. There was no reassurance. I was told when I awoke that she was dusky, ran a low heartrate, desating. It was such a scary and emotional time. I didn't sleep at all!!
Did I mention that I had an allergic reaction to something I was prepped with and broke out in hives, my face swelled, and flushed? I was on 3 different ABX as well. NO idea what caused this reaction.
Since we have had a tremendous recovery! God has just held us and cared for us in a miraculous way. She and I both recovered enough to go home Monday around noon. Our first night here was sleepless, but we have so much family support, this was quickly remedied. Now we are fighting a little bit of jaundice, so prayer is appreciated there too. We go again to see the ped today to see if she needs lights.
All-in-all, an emotional journey with the most wonderful blessing in the whole world. Travis and I are so proud and elated that we have little Bridgette with us. SHe is a joy!
Please continue to pray for us as we battle a bit of jaundice!
